In the past, vinyl labels and stickers have typically been made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is where the name is derived from. However, in recent years, PVC has fell to be the third most produced polymer plastic behind polypropylene, and for good reason.
Polypropylene vinyl (PP) has all the main positive qualities of PVC, including making your labels waterproof, flexible and tear-resistant. But there are further benefits on top, such as:
- A higher melting point for better heat-resistance
- Greater density for more strength and tear-resistance
- Much easier to recycle than PVC, which requires specialist recycling
- More environmentally friendly, as there are far fewer harmful by-products when manufacturing PP vs PVC.
